About me

I am Alina Schmitz-Hübsch, a Research Fellow at the Fraunhofer Institute for Communication, Information Processing and Ergonomics (FKIE), where I specialize in designing safety-critical systems—with a particular focus on adaptive technologies that respond intelligently to human needs and environments.

My work sits at the intersection of psychology, human factors, technology, and system safety. It’s been an exciting journey to see my research published in renowned journals like Ergonomics and Human Computer Interaction Reports, contributing to the global conversation on how we can create systems that not only function reliably but truly support the people who use them.

In addition to my research, I’m deeply passionate about teaching. At the University of Applied Sciences Bonn-Rhein-Sieg, I have the privilege of guiding and learning alongside the next generation of psychologists. I believe that sharing knowledge and curiosity is one of the most powerful ways to make lasting impact.

Outside the lab and lecture hall, you’ll often find me recharging in nature—hiking the trails of the Eifel National Park or exploring the countryside on horseback. These moments keep me grounded, inspired, and connected to the world beyond screens and systems.
